Substitute Teacher

 

St. Pius X Catholic School is looking for energetic, motivated, and experienced substitute teachers to work with students at all levels, from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Substitute Teachers execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher or are required to create classroom lessons on their own. Substitute Teachers create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning. Full-Time instructional assistant

 

Saint Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking an energetic, fun-loving, kind, and child-centered Instructional Assistant for the 2025-2026 school year. The Instructional Assistant at Saint Pius X provides support to students and teachers. This important work involves assisting with academics and behavioral monitoring as directed by the classroom teacher, assisting with small group activities, maintaining confidential records, and performing carpool, playground, and lunch supervisory duties. Instructional Assistants must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. They must relate well to children and their families, be able to exercise sound judgment, and maintain a positive approach to their work. They assist with general classroom housekeeping and clerical responsibilities and perform other duties as needed. This position may also include assisting with our After Care program and other auxiliary school programs. Successful prior experience is preferred.

Campus Maintenance Director

Position Summary:


The School and Church Maintenance Director is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors across a PreK - 8th grade campus and church facilities. This includes daily cleaning, facility upkeep and oversight of mechanical operation controls, monitoring of HVAC and fire systems, and planning and executing both routine and special projects.


Key Responsibilities:

1. General Maintenance:


•    Ensure cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, offices, and other school facilities.
•    Set up and break down lunchroom for daily meals; clean tables, chairs, and floors following meal periods.
•    Clean up bodily fluids promptly and safely, adhering to health and safety protocols.
•    Remove graffiti from walls, furniture, and other surfaces as needed.
•    Monitor campus grounds to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
•    Coordinate with Administration to prepare for special events by setting up tables, chairs, tents, signs, etc. and then breaking down following the event.


2. Facility & Equipment Management:


•    Monitor and maintain the computer-based HVAC system, ensuring consistent and appropriate climate control throughout the campus.
•    Conduct regular inspections of fire systems, fire drill systems, and door functionality.
•    Maintain accurate maintenance records for all equipment and systems.
•    Organize and maintain tools, ensuring accessibility and proper functioning.
•    Determine when maintenance projects can be completed in-house versus when to call specialists.
•    Maintain up-to-date contact information for relevant service providers.


3. Repairs & Projects:


•    Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, and furniture as needed.
•    Conduct summer projects such as painting, furniture assembly, classroom deep cleaning, and repairs.
•    Assess and prioritize maintenance needs and report repair requirements to administration.


4. Pest Control:


•    Monitor school grounds and address pest issues, including fire ant abatement, particularly during recess and outdoor activities. 
•    Coordinate with pest control services when necessary.


5. Safety & Security:


•    Ensure door functionality, including locks, hinges, and key systems, is maintained and organized.
•    Monitor campus grounds (including play areas) for security breaches or potential safety hazards.
•    Collaborate with administration to improve safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety standards.


6. Record Keeping & Communication:


•    Maintain maintenance logs for equipment repairs, system updates, asbestos, and pest control measures.
•    Communicate effectively with administration and staff regarding maintenance schedules, issues, and completed tasks.
•    Provide timely updates on projects, repairs, and preventive maintenance efforts.


Qualifications:


•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Experience in custodial work, preferably within a school setting.
•    Knowledge of HVAC systems, basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and general repairs.
•    Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow proper sanitation procedures.
•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•    Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Physical ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
•    Ability to interact well with a variety of people, including staff, students, parents, and outside contractors.  Demonstrates friendliness, courtesy, flexibility, and energy.  
•    Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.


Working Conditions:


•    Full-time, year-round position with occasional weekend or evening work as required.
•    Ability to attend to emergency on-call needs.
•    Exposure to cleaning chemicals, outdoor conditions, and potential physical hazards.

Part-Time After School Care Staff

 

Saint Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking staff members for its After School Care program.  After School Care (ASC) provides supervised recreation, homework assistance, and fun for Pre-K through middle school-aged Saint Pius X School students from dismissal time (3:15 p.m.) up until 5:30 p.m. If you enjoy working with children, and a relaxed after-school setting with part-time hours suitable to your schedule, this may be a great opportunity for you!  Preference will be given to licensed educators (in or out of service) or pre-service teachers/college students who are pursuing a career in education.  Hourly wage is commensurate with background and experience. *Completion of VIRTUS/Protecting God’s Children program and submission of a background check are required for employment in the Diocese of Charlotte.
